Rev. Betty spent 47 years as an instructor and administrator of nursing. Following her retirement, she was called to the ministry, and became a staff minister in May 2016. Her emphasis is on the uniqueness and value of all people, but her calling is to aid the aged in our Center and community. Coming to ministry post-retirement, she can be a role model for others contemplating their life trajectories.
Rev. Betty’s passions include Spirituality, exploring and supporting the environment, and travel: England, Scotland, Wales, Mexico, Panama, and Costa Rica, as well as short visits to Rome, St. Barts, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Spain. In the US, northern Minnesota and the southwestern states are favorite destinations. Traveling with children and grandchildren is a special joy. She believes that all life is an adventure, and practices this in both her inner life and in the world of form. She is a retired scuba diver and loves exploring wild nature, especially kayaking.
An inveterate reader, Rev. Betty is rarely without a book nearby. She reads spiritual books, biographies, travel books, books about social issues, and novels. In addition to Ernest Holmes, favorite writers include Oliver Sacks, Joel Goldsmith, Brian Swimme, Thomas Berry, Pema Chodron, Marianne Williamson, and the Dalai Lama. There are too many wonderful books to choose just a few, but if you have a topic of interest and desire references, ask Betty.
Rev. Betty’s many creative expressions include drumming and drum circles, sewing, knitting, weaving, and quilting. She also enjoys teaching others how to do these activities.
